The Big Training Day 2006
70 Students from throughout the Chojinkai Karate Clubs, attended the Annual Big Training Day, held at the Trinity Leisure Centre in Carlisle on Sunday July 2nd.
The first session, which lasted 90 mins, was for Boys and Girls 6 to 12 years, and taken by 3rd Dan Whitehaven Instructors Fred Ritson and Chris Denwood, covering co-ordination skills, games and light impact training. The session was finished off with 4th Dan Penrith Instructor and Squad Coach, Mark Holding taking the students through Competition Techniques.
The second session was for Adults and Teenagers and started with Chojinkai Chief Instructor, Sensei Doug James 7th Dan, demonstrating the numerous Hand Techniques, that could be used for striking the vital areas on the body.
This was followed with 5th Dan Cockermouth and Carlisle Instructor, Iain Abernethy teaching a short drill in the art of Modern Arnis. Hexham 4th Dan Instructor Darren Longstaff showed escape techniques from chokes, grabs and ground defence.
The 2 1/2 Hour session was completed with Mark Holding showing various Competition Techniques and Pad Work.
An excellent day was had by all, and next years event is to be scheduled for April 2007- Don't miss it!
